Cameron Olthius posted “75 Helpful Web Design Resources” on his site. Great resource reminds me of a project I’ve had in mind for sometime now. Anyway, here’s the link.
Download PDF converter and imageconverterplus.com.

An interesting article is posted comparing features from OS X and KDE entitled “Nine things KDE can learn from Mac OS X” by Ben Mayer. Check it out here.
In furthering my hobby of tampering and remixing open source project logos KDE has been high on my list. Currently the project is working on it’s next-gen user interface called Plasma. They are doing some great work in adding new functionality and “finish” to the K desktop. I’ve been working on a design direction myself that varies from the current direction the project is going. One aspect of the direction I’ve been going is a simplification of the brand logo. Below is a trimmed version of the K logo. I haven’t added any treatment to it…it’s kinda nice just to stare at it bare…sweet simplicity…
This is an illustration I did for the indie band Mandrake. Check out their site and see them live in SF if you’re in the neighborhood–www.mandrakeband.com. In the near future we’ll be working on the website and making some sweet Ts. Liam Carey, lead singer and guitarist in the band is also a solo artist and organizer of a music series called Ace of Spades which, from what I gather is held at the Mama Buzz cafe in Oakland–check it out!
These are a few logos I designed pro bono for a man I respect and admire named Mark Satin who has a newsletter called Radical Middle Newsletter at www.radicalmiddle.com. He offers a truly original perspective in the Left vs. Right dualistic political sphere. Unfortunately I didn’t really hit the mark with any of the designs and Mark decided not to use any of them. Below is a sampling from some of the good ones:
This is an identity for a new collaborative project I’m starting with two friends of mine. It’s called Blend 3. The concepts behind this solution are fairly straightforward 1) There are 3 of us, and 2) We are combining what we consider our 3 main products/services: graphic design, marketing strategies, and web development (php, css, ajax, etc.).
OpenBSD’s blowfish mascot has to be handsdown one of the coolest and most peculiar of all mascots. What’s so great is how it implies OpenBSDs’ corner in the BSD world: security. If I had my druthers I’d make an awesome flash intro for the OS. Funny thing about this particular piece is that I have yet to actually talk to anyone from the OpenBSD “world.” It’s been my experience that actually contacting a real-live human being involved with larger projects is harder than one would imagine. I’ve had this logo stashed away on my drive for months now, might as well give it some air. And who knows, maybe someone from OpenBSD will see it, like it, and even perhaps use it in the future. Whatever the case this was a great project, I learned a lot about making vector cartoon characters (this is all vector). Sometime I may do a write-up of the techniques I’ve learned.
This is a logo I asked to design for a youth outreach program associated with Tikkun magazine. The group is called YSP: Young Spiritual Progressives; it is a younger sibling to the other Spiritual Activist group Rabbi Michael Lerner has inspired. I’ll post a link to their blog after I find it but look up the program if you’re interested!
OK so I admit I haven’t touched the site in awhile…a long while. So in the next few days I’ll be updating the site, adding new works, and adding much needed contact information for myself. Sorry to all who’ve come to visit but found the site a little less than hospitable. My logo is flaking and needs a new paint job; and the walls admittedly are pretty bare.
