Ode to a blowfish
OpenBSD’s blowfish mascot has to be handsdown one of the coolest and most peculiar of all mascots. What’s so great is how it implies OpenBSDs’ corner in the BSD world: security. If I had my druthers I’d make an awesome flash intro for the OS. Funny thing about this particular piece is that I have yet to actually talk to anyone from the OpenBSD “world.” It’s been my experience that actually contacting a real-live human being involved with larger projects is harder than one would imagine. I’ve had this logo stashed away on my drive for months now, might as well give it some air. And who knows, maybe someone from OpenBSD will see it, like it, and even perhaps use it in the future. Whatever the case this was a great project, I learned a lot about making vector cartoon characters (this is all vector). Sometime I may do a write-up of the techniques I’ve learned.

It’s not actually hard to contact people from OpenBSD, Theo will respond to most people, even people who are trying to provoke him often enough. That’s a kinda neat one of Puffy.
